WCID Rule Update: No E-Bikes on Greenbelts or Nature Trails
Both Districts recently adopted changes to the rules and regulations governing e-bike and other vehicle use on property owned by the Districts. These areas include all trails and greenbelt areas in Belterra. The previous rules and regulations did not permit e-bike use in these areas, but they did not contain a clear prohibition. Under the newly adopted rules, e-bikes are prohibited in greenbelt areas and on nature trails.
Bicycles are still permitted on all District trails during daytime hours with a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour, but bicycles are not permitted off-trail in the greenbelts. E-bikes and segways are only permitted on District trails with a decomposed granite surface during daytime hours with a maximum speed limit of 10 miles per hour. No other vehicles are permitted in greenbelt areas or on trails.
These rules have been adopted to promote the safety of trail and greenbelt users, and to protect our utility infrastructure and preserve the natural state of our greenbelt areas. Additionally, please note that greenbelt areas are generally maintained in their native state, meaning that terrain is uneven and wildlife may be present (e.g. snakes). Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to stay on trails.
The Districts will be increasing efforts to monitor activities on trails and greenbelt areas. Fines will be issued for violations and parents are responsible for violations committed by their children. The full text of the rules and regulations is available here.
